Harriet Adie’s Under The Apple Tree Suite was conceived in the spring of 2026 as a result of wanting to write companion pieces for her ABRSM grade 6 piece of the same name. Research on some of the trees traditionally found in an old english orchard then led to the decision to pair poetry and prose with the music, using words to guide the mood of each piece and to serve as inspiration. The writing connected to each piece has been sourced from an ecclectic mix of authors, with themes of love, wonder, and childhood woven through the music.

Composed for pedal harpists at abrsm grade 6-7 level, these pieces work equally well as individual musical gems or in performance as a complete suite.
